Vintage love

Hello I wanted to hop on here quickly and show you an Anniversary card I made for my sister and brother-in-law who celebrated their 23rd wedding anniversary at the weekend. It will be a quick post (did you just sigh with relief ?!) as I have a poorly little boy laying on the sofa watching curious George ! So I'm gonna type quick before the medicine wears off !!

Ok so here it is
I used a sizzix embossing folder for the main background panel and highlighted the texture with a little bit of ink. The second piece of embossing is actually a debossed heart made using another, smaller, sizzix folder.
The ribbon, a chiffon with satin stripe, was white but I coloured it up with a pro-marker so it matched perfectly :) Oh I just noticed that there is more embossing on the heart locket (spellbinders) which is die cut then embossed onto foil engraving board then distressed to bring out the pattern in silver. The beautiful flower die cut is from a sheet that I purchased from my local craft store - I am sorry it does not have a brand printed on it :(
There are also aurora borealis gems, a sentiment, flower & button twine thrown in there too for good measure !
I was plesaed with the finished card until I found that I didn't have a larger envelope to accomodate the way I went over the edge of my card - PLEASE HELP if you have any tips or tricks regarding this problem - what envelope sizes do you use when you overlap the side of your card ? Do you make your own envies or boxes ? Please share any useful tutorial links too :)

I would like to add my card to the following challenges;

The paper players - BINGO ( I used ribbon, embossing & banners)
Muse - Fabulous Monday muse this week - thanks for the inspiration x
Oldie but a goodie - BINGO ( I used ribbon, flowers & embossing) All my "ingredients" are more than 6 months old except the flower die cut x
The pink elephant challenge - Anniversary or wedding
Just inspirational challenges - BINGO (I used vintage, gems & flowers)
Whimsy stamps challenge - Vintage/shabby chic

Thanks so much for visiting me today - if you have time leave a comment so I can hop over and visit you too x
I hope you have a super crafty day ;) x

Fancy fantasy

Today it is time for a new challenge over at Stampin' for the weekend and this time around the theme is one that all us girlies like it's fairies and fantasy.

Although I love fairies I have been hankering after a mermaid image for a while now and thought this would be a perfect excuse :)

Here is my card
The first thing to point out is that I printed the stamp onto pearlescent card, although it doesn't show on the photo, it looks great. I coloured that super sweet image, from Sylia Zet, first with my pro-markers then added a little more depth with my prisma & poly chromos. The tail is covered with stickles glitter and I added glossy accents to the bubbles. The background was then chalked blue - which also doesn't show well in the picture !

The papers are all digi from different kits I haven't listed them but if you see one that you particularly like just holler and I'll let you know :)

Here is an extra pic for you

Lets get sentimental :)

Today is time for another fab new challenge over at Jellypark friends and this week we want to see you make your sentiment the main focus of your card

Here is my card made using one of the images from the baby sentiments set available at the jellypark store here

The set is amazing value you get 6 great baby themed sentiments for just £2.25 - here is a peek
I tried something different by adding some doodling around the edge of the sentiment with a white gel pen and a black fine liner - what do you think ?

So for the details - I used lots of die cuts - Spellbinders circles & scalloped circles and the corners are also spellbinders. The aqua scalloped border is bought die cut border from doodbebug. I also used 2 ribbons - teal satin and white chiffon topped of with a button and a websters pages sparkler.

A new style to revive a flagging mojo !

Ok well recently I have been having an issue with my favourite passtime - crafting ! My mojo has gone AWOL and that along with the lack of time and energy I have left at the end of the day after all the summer holiday shenanigans we've been up to has left me shattered and uninspired.

Last night I decided that enough was enough, it was time to do something about it ! So I turned to my favourite mojo jump starter - Pinterest :) The best way I have found to jump start that mojo is to try a new technique or style and one of the styles I love but never really mastered is shabby chic.

So to Pinterest I turned searching and pinning like a mad woman and a new board was created especially for cards and projects that sparked my imagination (you can find it here if you fancy a look see !)
My mum also brought me a magazine last week (Cardmaking & papercraft September issue - thanks mum xx) and it had some free stamps with it which this card made me think of, so I got them out and started experimenting with colours, DP's, ribbon, lace and embellishments, paint, glitter and distressers ! Much mess was made and I ended up covered in paint and glitter but also much fun was had and I woke up this morning wanting to craft :)

Here was the end result

Here is a close-up of the ribbon/flower detail
The flowers were brushed with white acrylic paint and then I added glamour dust for some sparkle - I also found out that it is really difficult to photograph lots of glitter - my camera just didn't want to focus on it - any tips anyone ?

I hope you like my attempt I'm not sure if it's a bit more shabby than chic (!!) but hey it fixed my poor tired mojo so its a hit with me !

I would like to add my card to the following challenges;

Craftroom challenge - Something new
A.R.T challenge - Ribbons & pearls
Whimsical designs challenge - Something old, something new (Old papers/pearls/flowers and new stamp) Good luck to Stephanie on her new adventures xx
Card makin' Mama's - Black, white & 1 other colour

Thanks so much for visiting me today, leave a comment so I can pop by and visit you too xx

My fav colour combo on a Christmas card :)

It is time for another fabulous Jellypark challenge and this week our theme is
"Things with wings"
I chose to use one of the new Christmas digi's called Xmas fairy. She is available to buy for just £1.25 here at the jellypark store or you could always get her in the bargain bundle below.

I coloured her with pro-markers and added some extra shading with my prisma pencils.
The DP's I used are not Christmas papers they are actually from the EP victoria gardens paper kit but I love the girly pinkness and pink & green has always been my fav colour combo !!

The sentiment is a clear stamp that I have had for absolutely ages and I don't even know the brand - sorry but if you are after some circular sentiments there is a great set available at the jellypark store here. It includes the new Christmas digi stamps (thats 6 digi images, including the one I used) and also 3 circular sentiments (exclusive to this set at the mo) the set is £10 or just £6 if you are a Jellypark club member.
Here is a little peek

End of an era :(

Its time for another challenge over at Stampin' for the weekend and this time around we want to see your shaped cards.

I made a card for my little boy who will be starting school in September - he is looking forward to it sooooooo much but I am going to miss having him around - sniff sniff !! He is my youngest and I am feeling that its the end of an era ! Anyway enough of the soppy stuff lets get back to the fun stuff !

I used a digital template from whimsie doodles and I love it ! I will def be looking into getting more. I have recently been feeling lack lustre, to say the least, when it comes to crafting - my mojo has def gone awol. But I really enjoyed making this little shaped card and I know that my little man will be thrilled with it when I give it to him on his 1st day of school.

Don't forget to check out the rest of the DT creations over at stampin' for the weekend then get cracking on your own shaped card to share with us :)

I would like to add my card to the following challenges;
